Beloved of Shri Krishna
adveṣṭā sarvabhūtānāṁ maitraḥ karuṇa eva ca |
nirmamo nirahaṅkāraḥ samaduḥkhasukhaḥ kṣamī || 12-13||
अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानां मैत्रः करुण एव च |
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः समदुःखसुखः क्षमी ||१२- १३||
बिन द्वेष सारे प्राणियों का मित्र करुणावान् हो।
सम दुःखसुख में मद न ममता क्षमाशील महान् हो॥ १२। १३॥
santuṣṭaḥ satataṁ yogī yatātmā dṛḍhaniścayaḥ |
mayyarpitamanobuddhiryo madbhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ || 12-14||
सन्तुष्टः सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढनिश्चयः |
मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः ||१२- १४||
जो तुष्ट नित मन बुद्धि से मुझमें हुआ आसक्त है।
दृढ़ निश्चयी है संयमी प्यारा मुझे वह भक्त है॥ १२। १४॥
yasmānnodvijate loko lokānnodvijate ca yaḥ |
harṣāmarṣabhayodvegairmukto yaḥ sa ca me priyaḥ || 12-15||
यस्मान्नोद्विजते लोको लोकान्नोद्विजते च यः |
हर्षामर्षभयोद्वेगैर्मुक्तो यः स च मे प्रियः ||१२- १५||
पाते न जिससे क्लेश जन उनसे न पाता आप ही।
भय क्रोध हर्ष विषाद बिन प्यारा मुझे है जन वही॥ १२। १५॥
anapekṣaḥ śucirdakṣa udāsīno gatavyathaḥ |
sarvārambhaparityāgī yo madbhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ || 12-16||
अनपेक्षः शुचिर्दक्ष उदासीनो गतव्यथः |
सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः ||१२- १६||
जो शुचि उदासी दक्ष है जिसको न दुख बाधा रही।
इच्छा रहित आरम्भ त्यागी भक्त प्रिय मुझको वही॥ १२। १६॥
yo na hṛṣyati na dveṣṭi na śocati na kāṅkṣati |
śubhāśubhaparityāgī bhaktimānyaḥ sa me priyaḥ || 12-17||
यो न हृष्यति न द्वेष्टि न शोचति न काङ्क्षति |
शुभाशुभपरित्यागी भक्तिमान्यः स मे प्रियः ||१२- १७||
करता न द्वेष न हर्ष जो बिन शोक है बिन कामना।
त्यागे शुभाशुभ फल वही है भक्त प्रिय मुझको घना॥ १२। १७॥
samaḥ śatrau ca mitre ca tathā mānāpamānayoḥ |
śītoṣṇasukhaduḥkheṣu samaḥ saṅgavivarjitaḥ || 12-18||
समः शत्रौ च मित्रे च तथा मानापमानयोः |
शीतोष्णसुखदुःखेषु समः सङ्गविवर्जितः ||१२- १८||
सम शत्रु मित्रों से सदा अपमान मान समान है।
शीतोष्ण सुख-दुख सम जिसे आसक्ति बिन मतिमान है॥ १२। १८॥
tulyanindāstutirmaunī santuṣṭo yena kenacit |
aniketaḥ sthiramatirbhaktimānme priyo naraḥ || 12-19||
तुल्यनिन्दास्तुतिर्मौनी सन्तुष्टो येन केनचित् |
अनिकेतः स्थिरमतिर्भक्तिमान्मे प्रियो नरः ||१२- १९||
निन्दा प्रशंसा सम जिसे मौनी सदा संतुष्ट ही।
अनिकेत निश्चल बुद्धिमय प्रिय भक्त है मुखको वही॥ १२। १९॥
Who hateth nought Of all which lives, living himself benign, Compassionate, from arrogance exempt, Exempt from love of self, unchangeable By good or ill; patient, contented, firm In faith, mastering himself, true to his word, Seeking Me, heart and soul; vowed unto Me,- That man I love! Who troubleth not his kind, And is not troubled by them; clear of wrath, Living too high for gladness, grief, or fear, That man I love! Who, dwelling quiet-eyed, Stainless, serene, well-balanced, unperplexed, Working with Me, yet from all works detached, That man I love! Who, fixed in faith on Me, Dotes upon none, scorns none; rejoices not, And grieves not, letting good or evil hap Light when it will, and when it will depart, That man I love! Who, unto friend and foe Keeping an equal heart, with equal mind Bears shame and glory; with an equal peace Takes heat and cold, pleasure and pain; abides Quit of desires, hears praise or calumny In passionless restraint, unmoved by each; Linked by no ties to earth, steadfast in Me, That man I love!

These eight verses of ‘divine immortal nectar’ are also explained by Swami Venkatesananda in a selection from BhagvadGita Daily Reading. He says:
“The eight concluding verses of this chapter are thrilling and superb. They are called ‘amṛtāṣṭakaṁ’ – the immortal eight.
Kṛṣṇa, who has said that there was none dear or antagonistic to him, suddenly declares that there are some who are extremely dear to him! Who they are and what their nature is, he describes in these eight verses.
We should remember:
(a) That God is not a worldly ruler with friends and enemies.
(b) That he who answers to these descriptions becomes receptive to God’s divine, omnipresent love. The pure heart receives and reflects this love, even as pure iron-filings rush to the magnet, while rusted ones do not, through no fault of the magnet itself.
(c) That whether we regard God as aloof and unconcerned with the world, or in his omniscience, as able to fulfil the delicate dual role of a witness and active participant in this world-play, he is never whimsical.
(d) That the characteristics mentioned in connection with the devotee are almost the same as those mentioned in connection with descriptions of the sthitaprajña (one who is unshakably established in superconsciousness) or guṇātīta (one who has transcended the three qualities of nature), following jñāna or karma yoga paths. In fact, a close study of the Bhagavad Gītā should convince us that these paths are but one path viewed from the aspirant’s particular standpoint, even as descriptions of the universe and of God vary, depending upon the standpoint of the viewer.
(e) Since God is one’s innermost reality, this God-love dispels the psychotic self-love and self-hate which distort man’s vision and estimation of himself with consequent maladjustment in society.
These eight verses are worth daily repetition, contemplating their meaning.”

I came across Swami Sivananda’s commentary of the Bhagavadgita at Gita Supersite today. Regarding the above shlokas he says: “Lord Krishna gives a description of the nature of a Bhagavata or a sage in the following eight verses. These eight verses are called ‘Amritashtakam’.”
The eighth shloka in अमृताष्टकं, which is not included in the post above, is the last shloka of the 12th chapter. It is:
ye tu dharmyAmR^itamidaM yathoktaM paryupAsate .
shraddadhAnA matparamA bhaktAste.atIva me priyAH .. 12-20..
ये तु धर्म्यामृतमिदं यथोक्तं पर्युपासते |
श्रद्दधाना मत्परमा भक्तास्तेऽतीव मे प्रियाः ||१२- २०||
The following is the Hindi verse for the same from Shri Hari Gita,
जो मत्परायण इस सुधामय धर्म में अनुरक्त हैं .
