One of our readers has put forth a very interesting and thought provoking question.
This instantly strikes a cord since many of us can relate to this and other similar circumstances where-in we wonder whether a particular happening is on account of one’s Karma.
I would like to hear the thoughts of our learned readers – please feel free to write and share your experiences and opinion on this topic!
“Parents bringup their children with utmost care, educate them and get them married. They (these children) desert the parents in search of amassing money and abandon their parents. In their old age, no one comes to their rescue and they suffer a lot for their existence. Is it due to their karma accumulated in the previous birth?”
- From Mr. B.N.Gundu Rao
They are probably emulating their parents ( their ‘betters – role models) who neglected their parents : ‘Yadyadacharati shreshthastatadevetaro janah – Geeta – III,21). However, by so doing they are sealing their own fate. The higher way is to realize the Self within and in others and behave ‘atmoupyena – Geeta – Vi,32 – ‘Do unto others as you would have them unto you’ – Jesus – towards others ans break the chain of Karma. This is ‘the way of evolution -”Abhikrama’ that no force can prevent ‘Pratyavayo na vidyate’ – Geeta – Geeta II,40.
I know, as a boy in teens lost his father leaving behind three brothers and two sisters, all in the ages starting from just 3 months to 10 years and below, leaving behind widowed mother, a house maker. As the eldest son, he took care of all of them, by entering into work and earned money to maintain the family. He stoodby his mother, to see them educated, got them married and maintained the joint family till he became 55 years of age. The brothers, by then got separated on their own with their wives and children. He is now 75 years and none of them are not bothered to take care. Is this his karma of the previous birth or curse?
