Sri Dina Anukampana Das has converted the Chapter 2 to a simple & pleasing “Sing along” format for devotees to be able to see the text on screen and chant along.
Currently only Chapter 2 is available but with the Lord’s grace, he hopes to make more chapters available in this format.
The original version is available at www.gitasingalong.on.to
dear sowmya ram ji
namaste!
thank you for your kind message and encouraging words.
ever since i discovered this method of singing the Gita bhajan style, coupled with my discovery of teaching perfect sanskrit pronunciation within just a few hours, i approached the hindu leaders in singapore (my hometown) and managed to get them to start an annual event for uniting all Hindus where the entire gita is sung….
it has grown to be what the organizers call ‘a mega event’ that lasts more than a month – each year the Hindu Endowments Board appoints a different Hindu or Indian Cultural organization to take the lead as chairman for the event while the organizing team members are made up of devotees from all the other organizations… so it has really become unity in diversity…
do see their website for the 12th year’s event http://www.gitajayanti.org.sg
since your site also features Gita Jayanti events, I want to share with you our vision and mission – please see the mission and vision mentioned in the Gita Jayanti Invitatino card for GJ Kuala Lumpur 2008.
also kindly see the supporting letters from Swami Guhabhaktanandaji Maharaj (DLS President, Malaysia) and from Prof Tripathi of Tirupati.
i’m also attaching some information on Simplified Romanized Sanskrit – but one nice thing about singing the Gita bhajan style (as opposed to chanting it with chandhaa the traditional way) is that even without knowing anything about sanskrt pronunciation, almost anyone can sing along by the third chapter, get absorbed in it, and experience spiritual bliss… you have to try it out yourself in a group to beleive it….
hope you may find time to evaluate what i’m sending….
so far i have seen it spreading like wildfire.. because hindus are so pious, and all of them have so much faith in Gita, however thus far, it has always been only the ‘elite’ who can chant the gita…. we hope it will spread in popularity far and wide so much so that, by force of popularity, it should be declared a public holiday in india by 2015 and should become the biggest, global nonsectarian spiritual event on the planet…. with the kind and enthusiastic help of sincere souls like you…..
all the best to you in your service to mother Gita….. amba tvaam anusandadhami bhagavad… gite bhavadveeshineem!
yours sincerely,
in service of sri guru, sri gopal and srimad bhagavad gita,
dina
It was very inspiring to read the above letter by Dina , I am very keen to know how the actual singing sounds like , as we are familiar only with the traditional way, but if the above way is simpler and easily absorbable then surely it can be the way of the masses in a very short time. If it can also be a tune which can be popular with the young people of today, it would be even desirable, as we can always see their energies are waiting to be utilized.
wishing all the best for this new endeavour
