I’m a teenager and I find it hard to concentrate and clear my mind for yoga and meditation, whenever it is quiet my favorite music starts playing in my head. Any pointers?

What Can I Do To Ease The Mind For Yoga/meditation?

Enjoy the music. Do the asanas and be glad you don’t need headphones to enjoy music.
There is no reason to be trying to erase internal noises. You will always have thoughts to watch and ignore.
The idea of mantras is to keep the mind focused. You can simply focus on the posture. Feel your body. Just feel your body. Pay attention to how your muscles and joints feel.
Or you can find mantra you like to repeat (japa) over and over as you practice.
I find it best to do yoga to a DVD. DVDs usually have their own background music. You can use this music and the sound of the teacher’s voice to help you stay focused.
Also, focus on the breath. Attention to the breath keeps your mind in a one-pointed focus and prevents you from being distracted from other thoughts. If you have a distracting thought during yoga, silently say, “Thinking mind,” to yourself. Observe the thoughts, and let them go. Don’t try to control them.
Dear FRIEND
Why it is common for all ages – so do not despair … keep trying , the very fact that you are attempting meditation and yoga itself shows you are in the right direction. Also the very purpose of meditation is to clear your mind …. the illness is agitation and medicine is meditation ; in one dose one cannot cure the illness.
Thanks
