Dear Parag,
The Questions are very deep founded and also require a lot of explanations and effort for understanding as well. However, with the help of some of the Shlokas from Bhagavadgeeta an effort is made here to reply the questions:
Q: Who am I? Do I have a spiritual body or I am formless?
Chapter 4 verse 5: God says, “Arjuna , you and I have passed through many births, I remeber them all: you do not remember”
This shows I am some one who takes repeated births and goes through the cycle of birth and death
Chapter 10 verse 20: “Arjuna, I am the Universal Self seated in the heart of all beings; so I alone am the beginning, the middle, and also the end of all beings”
Chapter 15 verse 7: “The eternal Jivatma in this body is a fragment of My own being; and it is That alone which draws around itself the mind and five senses which abide in nature”
Q:Why am I suffering in this material world?
Chapter 14 verse 7 : ” Arjuna, know the quality of Rajas- which is of the nature of passion, as born out of desire and attachment. It binds the soul through attachment to actions and their fruits”
Q:Why have I come to this material world?
Chapter 14 verse 5: ” Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas- these three Gunas born of nature tie down the imperishable soul to the body, Arjuna”
This is the reason why I am born in this material world.
Q: Why am I confused about my existence?
Chapter 4 verse 40: “He who lacks discrimination, is devoid of faith and is possesed by doubt is lost to the spiritual path”
In other words we are confused because we lack the power of discrimination to understand what is knowledge .
Further Chapter 3 verse 39: “Arjuna, knowledge stands covered by this eternal enemy of the wise known as desire”
Q: What is my real duty towards my work, family, society, God?
The real duty is to follow one’s “Swadharma” ie as it naturally comes to one following the spiritual path. The duties are to performed according to the varna ( the four categories as created by God ) and Ashrama ( the four stages in life as specified in the scriptures) .Hari Om
