Lets make it clear.Yogi use to meditate but….Meditation does not depend on yoga neither yoga depends on meditation.
Yes,one can meditate without practicing yoga just as one can punch hard without learning boxing. In simple words,it is possible.
Meditation is useful when it is done in correct way.
Close ur eyes, take deep breaths(inhale-exhale continuously).Concentrate on ur breath. For a beginner 15 mins of meditation is enough.
Remember, yoga or meditation whatever u do, do it correctly & regularly then only u can feel the difference.See how it changes ur life.
Keep patience!don’t fall back.
Yes you can do this. Meditation is the seventh step in the ashtanga yoga of sage Pathanjali- the next step ie 8th step is samadhi the ultimate stage of meditation. The eight fold yoga comprises of -yama, niyama, asana, pranayama.prthyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi. The other stages will aid the practitioner to reach the goal. Asana and pranayama will make ones body hale and healthy. The first two steps viz yama and niyama are moral foundations, prathyahara and dharana promotes concentration
I think there is some confusion over here. By sure, you can not meditate properly if you are not fit, physically and mentally. Through yoga you may maintain your physical and mental fitness required for meditation. Meditation is a mental effort. Mind is governed by the body. If body is not fit, your mind can not maintain Harmony. Any doubt?
Yes,u can meditate without practising yoga. meditation is a pert of yoga.its not necessary to learn n do all the Aasanas for meditation. But yes,u need a lot of patience n controlling power to calm ur body, heart and mind & only then u can attain a position of “Aatm Shanti”
i m meditating since last 10-11 yrs n it really helps at each n every step of life.
Meditation and yoga are two different ways. Yoga is complete broad science. There are lot of branches in Yoga. Meditation can be compared with Raja yoga only. There are many yoga methods like Hatha yoga, Sahaja yoga etc. What we normally understad by yoga is certain body postures. It has no common ground for maditation. Meditation is related with mind and taking a jump out of the mind.
Yoga is not necessary for meditation. Yoga does not help us to meet the Almighty.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Psalm 119:15
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
1 Timothy 4:14-16
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
yoga doesnt mean asana and pranayam alone ..it means all the limbs together with meditation..you wouldn’t have as much success without following the system ..because the techniques have meaning..say you cant jump to the seventh limb directly and easily …and whats you problem with other limbs say asana etc??-they are amazing and not tough
one would love asana and pranayam if he once learns and does them.
Yes its for divine union
Yoga’s full name or qualified name is ‘ Ashtanga ( eight fold or limbed) Yoga’ of which meditation is a limb i.e. anga. The shortened form ‘Yoga’ has come to mean Hathayoga, the mentally forceful or insistent Yoga of postures and movements. There cannot be meditation without Yoga of which it is a part nor yoga without meditation.
Meditating involves sitting still for a period of time — maybe 10 minutes, or maybe 100 minutes. The increased flexibility that yoga brings helps the body to remain comfortable during this physical inactivity.flexibility is most important
